Main Body

The W126, the most successful Mercedes-Benz S-Class in history. In the 1980s, it was the de-facto luxury saloon of choice for every drug dealer to a prime minister around the world. Anyone who was anyone had one, from Saddam Hussein to George H.W Bush and me to!

My car may still be in good running condition, safe and fuel efficient, but if years of exposure to all the environmental elements had already taken toll on it, I might need to do something. After many years of using the car, I find that it's paint has already faded and that it already has some scratches, cracks, and dents that no amount of waxing can cover.

Looking to get some bodywork done.

There are a few other minor bits, but these are the main areas. I had a few different bumps and scrapes from rude people, who never seem to leave notes.

I may do the treatment myself of prepping it in which case I would only need it re-sprayed. Maybe not!

I know Top-Spoiler in Bangkok how design the back spoiler for my car. I've just never heard of anyone having bodywork done there , lots of trimming though. Website doesn't show bodywork repairs either, but have spoken to them, now I know it better.

I asked for a quote to paint, and found the quality of their work and pricing to be excellent! They were also willing to mix the paint according to my ideas (pearl white). Follow the pictures gallery!

During the Painting Stage, the vehicles are primed and sealed to assure good adhesion when the final top color and clear coats are applied.  Drying time is much quicker than in the past, and usually can be completed within 2 hours.

   Now you can something learning:

Proper mixing of all materials is crucial or funny things will happen to your paint job over time. Follow the directions on the can closely, or better yet, follow the procedures on the product's technical data sheet if you have access to it.

The primer flashes in 5-8 minutes between coats and can be top coated in one hour. If you are going to let the primer sit for more than one hour and you are adding extra coats of primer, you will have to sand the primer with 600-grit paper. The shortcut is to not let it dry for more than one hour between primer coats. You don't have to sand before the topcoat is applied, it will just add scratch marks to the finish.

The top knob on the gun controls the fan shape. Turning it all the way clockwise narrows the pattern and turning it counterclockwise widens the pattern. We cleaned the gun again and sprayed two coats of clear with 3-5 minutes between each coat. It uses a 4:1 ratio with an activator. We allowed the base coat to dry for 15-30 minutes before we applied the clear. We didn't sand the base coat, but you can if you get some dirt or dead flies in it. Use 1,200 or finer sandpaper, and wipe it with an adhesive remover and a tack cloth before adding the clear. We've also heard of guys color-sanding between clear coats for show cars, but we don't really do that stuff here

Auto body repair and collision repair in Top-Spoiler has never been better, and it is all thanks to our amazing crew who have handpicked for the job! The result speech for it self!

After 3 week of waiting the paintwork is ready. Look it! It's beautiful!

It's been 3 months since I started driving the car daily. What an amazing machine. It is truly a luxury to drive a W126 as your daily driver.
